This GELCOAT  is mainly used with moulds . It is the 1st layer applied to a mould that is then re-enforced with Fibreglass . When then cured laminate is extracted from the mould, it is the outer layer.

NOTE - Gelcoat cures TACKY - it should not be used for gelcoat repairs - if you do need to repair a gelcoat surface , we suggest looking for a TOPCOAT ( flowcoat, gelcoat repair ) , Topcoat has a wax additive so will cure touch dry.

Using Guidelines :

The GELCOAT  should be allowed to attain workshop temperature (18ºC-20°C) before use. Stir well by hand, or with a low shear mixer to avoid aeration. It only requires  the addition of catalyst to start the curing reaction. The  catalyst is should be added at 2% into the GELCOAT . Mix by weight- Weigh the required amount of topcoat using kitchen scales-  The catalyst should be thoroughly incorporated into the topcoat , with the stirring stick.

Mixing :

Take the weight and multiply by 0.02 ; This is the amount of hardener you need

Example - weigh 200g of topcoat :  200 x 0.02 = 4, this means you need to add 4ml of hardener 

Coverage : Very Approximate !! - 500-600g Per Sq M
